This is a story of impact! Uber and Zydii are putting essential skills training into overdrive. We recently threw an incredible appreciation event for the top driver partners who powered through the most courses on the Zydii platform, a powerful display of their dedication to crushing their personal and business goals.
The Vision: More Than Just Rides
Brian Njao, Uber’s Country Manager for Kenya, has a clear focus: “Our vision is to empower and upskill driver partners so they can grow their small businesses,” he states.
“To deliver real growth opportunities, we launched a pilot learning program with Zydii. This gives drivers direct access to the relevant content and skills they asked for. Plus, it’s a huge win to collaborate with a local Kenyan start-up, actively supporting the tech and business ecosystem across Nairobi and Sub-Saharan Africa.”
“At Uber, we have a global vision of empowering and upskilling driver-partners, we continually look at ways to grow their small businesses” says Brian Njao, Uber’s Country Manager for Kenya. “As part of our efforts to provide growth opportunities for driver-partners, we decided to pilot a new learning programme with Zydii to give drivers access to courses and content that they were interested in. In addition to that, we are excited to collaborate with local Kenyan start-ups, as a way of supporting the tech and business ecosystem in Nairobi and all of Sub-Saharan Africa as a whole.”
The Impact: Skills That Immediately Boost Earnings
Cezanne Maherali, Uber’s Head of Policy in East Africa, explains the genius behind the partnership: “Partnering with Zydii just made sense. It gives our driver-partners the learning opportunities and skills they need to instantly improve their ability to earn. It’s a clear path for their professional development.”
Before building the content, Zydii went straight to the source: We surveyed the drivers to find out exactly what they wanted to learn! This direct feedback allowed us to develop custom, online courses tailored for their success.
Courses that are changing lives include:
- Emergency First Aid basics.
- Smart Money Management.
- Mastering the perfect Driver Rating.
- Specialised training for uberASSIST drivers to better serve seniors and riders with special needs.
Zydii’s Platform is The Difference Maker
Joyce Mbaya-Ikiao, Zydii’s founder and CEO, is adamant about the platform’s role: “The success of this partnership proves one thing: Zydii is closing a critical gap. We provide digital development content that’s genuinely relatable to Kenyans.”
“Empowerment happens when you connect people with the right knowledge. Zydii is thrilled to leverage the power of technology to directly help Africans improve their lives and unlock their potential with our online courses.”
Njao wraps up perfectly: “We are proud to stand alongside an organisation that values our driver-partners as much as we do. This partnership with Zydii is delivering knowledge and information that was previously out of reach, and we know it will continue to add massive, lasting value to their careers.”
